Pinot Grigio

The cosmopolitan interpreter of terroir

An extraordinarily successful international variety, Pinot Grigio is one of the most versatile white grape varieties in the wine world. This collection celebrates the many expressions of this fascinating grape variety, from its chosen homeland in northeastern Italy to international interpretations, offering a spectrum ranging from the most immediate and refreshing versions to wines of remarkable structure and complexity, capable of evolving over time, all sharing a perfect balance between freshness, body, and aromatic intensity.

From Friuli to South Tyrol: Italian excellence

In the hills of Friuli, particularly in the Collio and Colli Orientali, Pinot Grigio reaches extraordinary heights of quality, with wines of significant structure, aromatic complexity, and surprising longevity. In South Tyrol, especially in the areas of Appiano and the Adige Valley, it develops a more vertical and mineral profile thanks to the volcanic soils and marked temperature variations. The Veneto expressions of the Valdadige and Trentino areas are also significant, where tradition and innovation come together in interpretations of great drinkability and territorial character.

From white to coppery: infinite nuances

The Tannico selection explores the extraordinary stylistic spectrum of Pinot Grigio: from the most common white vinifications, which enhance notes of pear, green apple, and white flowers, to the fascinating “copper” or “orange” versions, obtained through maceration on the skins, which give the wine its characteristic pinkish-copper color and a more complex organoleptic profile, with spicy notes and a more evident tannic structure. From fermentation in steel, which preserves freshness and immediacy, to aging in wood, which amplifies complexity and evolutionary potential: every nuance of this versatile grape variety finds a place in our carefully curated selection.

Masters of Pinot Grigio: tradition and vision

From the benchmark interpretations of Livio Felluga and Jermann in Friuli to the refined South Tyrolean expressions of Cantina Tramin and Elena Walch, from the avant-garde copper-colored wines of Radikon to the elegant French versions from Alsace: our collection brings together producers who have elevated this grape variety beyond stereotypes.
