Its history dates back to the early 20th century thanks to pioneer Giulio Ferrari, a young oenologist who created a tradition of high-quality sparkling wine in Trentino. What are the Trento DOC regulations?

The Trento DOC regulations establish the rules and requirements for a producer to label their sparkling wine with this designation. The regulations require the use of 100% grapes from permitted vines (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier and Riesling). The minimum percentage of grapes from the protected area used for the production of Trento DOC is 70%. The wine must then be aged in the bottle on its lees for a minimum of 15 months for basic wines and 24 months for reserve wines, with an additional 3 months post-dégorgement. On the nose, Trento DOC sparkling wines should express aromas of white fruit and citrus combined with toasted bread. On the palate, the balance between acidity, softness and a long finish complete the tasting experience. The price is determined by the quality of the vineyards and the production techniques used.
