The land of Gamay and carbonic maceration
Beaujolais, a region located between Burgundy and the Rhône, is the undisputed kingdom of Gamay, a grape variety that finds its maximum expression here thanks to granite soils and a temperate climate with continental influences. The uniqueness of these wines lies not only in the grape variety but also in the traditional vinification process using carbonic maceration, a technique that enhances the freshness and fruity aromas of the grapes.
From Nouveau to the ten prestigious Crus
Although it is known for the young and festive Beaujolais Nouveau, released every third Thursday in November, the region expresses its true excellence through its ten historic Crus: Morgon, Moulin-à-Vent, Fleurie, Juliénas, Chénas, Chiroubles, Saint-Amour, Régnié, Brouilly, and Côte de Brouilly. Each Cru has its own distinctive character: from the power of Moulin-à-Vent to the floral finesse of Fleurie, from the minerality of Côte de Brouilly to the structure of Morgon, capable of evolving over time, developing complexities similar to Burgundy Pinot Noir.
The leading producers in our selection
Tannico offers labels from the best interpreters of the territory: Marcel Lapierre, an emblematic figure of the natural movement, and Jean Foillard with his legendary Morgon “Côte du Py.” The selection is completed by the wines of Guy Breton, authentic artisans who, through practices that respect tradition and the environment, restore the most authentic identity of a territory of only apparent simplicity to each bottle.
