DOMAINE LA FLORANE

Domaine La Florane has a particular history that unites three generations of vignerons and two terroirs, maintaining a shared philosophy that underlies a single identity. Until recently, the owner-enologist Adrian Fabre managed two wineries: Domaine de l'Echevin which is his father's family estate, and Domaine La Florane which represents his mother's. Domaine La Florane would make wine with the vines from the village of Visan, on lands handed down by the family of Marie-Pierre Fabre. On the other hand, the plots of Saint-Maurice bore the name of Domaine de l'Échevin, named that way by François Fabre in the 90s. “Guillaume de Rouville”, together with “Échevin” are names still in use for the wines of the Saint-Maurice appellation. In 2001, the two family estates started using the same winery, then, in 2019, they finally merged. The Domaine consists of 75.5 hectares, of which 38.5 hectares of vineyards and 37 hectares of woods, olive trees and lavender. In full, magnificent Côtes-du-Rhône region we find the Village Visan appellation, 24 hectares 280 to 380 meters above sea level, facing south, and the Village Saint-Maurice appellation, 14.5 hectares and lots of forest 380 to 410 meters, a plateau with calcareous-clayey soil, covered with pebbles and facing north/north-east. The company manages the vineyard in an organic and biodynamic way, Demeter and Biodyvin certified. The lands are worked and sowed with flowering herbs; the soil is treated once a year with a compost of locally certified organic ingredients. The healthier the soil is the healthier and more productive the vines are. The main grape is Grenache, which gives body, elegance and finesse to the wine. There are several plots of Syrah, which provides good acidity and freshness, essential for the cuvées. As for red grapes, we also find Mourvèdre, and Cinsault; there is also a small area of ​​Carignano, planted on a slope that curves from east to west. The white varieties are Viognier and Marsanne, which are also the estate's historic varieties, supported by the delicacy of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne. Finally, Clairette and Bourboulenc, planted in 2013. The Domaine la Florane has received numerous awards and gives us crazy wines that not only are good in the glass, but also respect the ecosystem.
