KELTIS

The Keltis brand was founded in 1989 in Bizeljsko, in eastern Slovenia, on the initiative of Marijan Kelhar. He bottled the winery's first “real” wines and took the first steps on the market as a producer.

In the 1990s, Marijan's sons Luka and Miha were born. As he grew up, Miha took on an increasingly important role in the company and is now its driving force.

Miha is very grateful to his father for laying the solid foundations on which the winery stands today. He continues the family's winemaking traditions while giving his wines a very personal touch. his approach has been praised from the outset, so much so that his very first wine, the 2009 “Cuvée Extrême”, won an excellent second place at the International Orange Wine Festival in Vienna.

The ‘Cuvée Extreme’, orange in colour and slightly cloudy, reveals itself to be full-bodied and rich right from the start. A blend of five different varieties, it is an Orange Wine obtained through maceration for about two months. Highly versatile, it combines the character of Chardonnay with the elegance of Riesling and Pinot Grigio and the complexity of Traminer and Muscat Ottonel. Like almost all of Miha's wines, now appreciated in both Europe and the United States, it is impossible to forget after the first taste.
Miha is a man who enjoys contact with nature, respects it deeply and always expresses his creativity in harmony with it. For this reason, he works exclusively organically on his five hectares of vineyards, from which he produces around 20,000 bottles a year.
The opportunity to approach Miha's wines with renewed curiosity is therefore not to be missed; it is likely that, from the very first sip, they will become your favourite Slovenian wines.
