CHÂTEAU GRUAUD LAROSE
The origins of Château Gruaud Larose date back to the mid-18th century, but the “modern” history of the estate began in 1997, when it was bought by the Merlaut family, already owners of other wineries in the Médoc. With over 80 hectares of vineyards, falling within the Saint-Julien appellation, the vines mainly host cabernet sauvignon and merlot, to which are added, albeit to a lesser extent, cabernet franc and petit verdot plants. The grapes are grown following organic methods, and without ever resorting to insecticides, pesticides or chemical herbicides. In the cellar, the fruit is always processed trying to enhance its most natural expressions, hence the vinification in concrete tanks or wooden vats, and ageing is carried out in French oak barrels for at least 18 months. This is how the labels of Château Gruaud Larose come to life: the wines showcase elegance, complexity and breadth, characteristics that place them at the top of the appellation to which they belong.
