CHÂTEAU DE BONNEZEAUX

Château de Bonnezeaux is a historic wine estate located in the famous Loire Valley, in the commune of Thouarcé, France. Founded in the 19th century, the property was already known at the time for producing fine sweet wines made from Chenin Blanc grapes, the region's signature grape variety, grown on hillside plots of extraordinary geological value. However, for over thirty years, the château and its vineyards were completely abandoned, leaving only silence and decay in their wake.

The rebirth began in 2012, when Guyonne Saclier de la Bâtie, the young and courageous heiress of the historic family, decided to bring the estate back to life.
With training from renowned winemakers such as Mark Angeli and Stéphane Bernaudeau, Guyonne embarked on an ambitious restoration project based on biodynamic agriculture, respect for the natural cycle of the vine and non-interventionist winemaking. Her dream was to produce great dry Chenin Blanc wines that reflect the purest identity of the Bonnezeaux terroir.

After four years of hard work in the vineyard and in the cellar, the first wine of the new era was born in 2016. Today, the estate comprises six hectares of vineyards, cultivated without the use of chemicals. The grapes are harvested by hand, the musts ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, the pressing is slow and traditional, and the wines are aged in wood, sometimes for up to a decade, without filtration or clarification.

In 2019, Guyonne entrusted the running of the winery to Pierre Boisseau and winemaker Florian Zuliani, who took up the baton with sensitivity and dedication, keeping the founding principles intact. Their approach has further enhanced the longevity and complexity of the wines.

Today, Château de Bonnezeaux is considered one of the most fascinating and promising names in the Loire Valley. Its dry and fortified white wines tell a story of resilience, vision and respect for the land. A virtuous model of natural viticulture that combines farming tradition and expressive research in every bottle.
