9 DI DANTE
“9 di DANTE” comes to life at the foot of the Piedmont hills, in the province of Cuneo, just outside Alba. It is here, immersed in the heart of the Barolo vineyards, that the art of making Vermouth has been mastered and perfected since the 18th century, when it was appreciated at the court of the House of Savoy.
To guarantee its quality and characteristic artisanal taste, 9 di DANTE has chosen the “Distilleria Dr M. Montanaro,” where Francesco Trussoni created the first Barolo Grappa in 1885 and where some of the best Italian grappas are still distilled and aged today.
The Montanaro distillery was founded at the end of the 19th century in Gallo d'Alba, in the province of Cuneo, on the initiative of master distiller Francesco Trussoni, who had the intuition to create the first single-varietal grappa in history, effectively giving birth to Barolo grappa. Since 1992, the company has been run by the Montanaro family, whose members have perfected the production processes, adopting steam stills and drawing on the technical and scientific expertise of the Alba School of Enology.
In addition to producing and marketing a wide range of grappas and spirits, Montanaro has recently bottled a series of brandies made from Langhe wines that had been forgotten for over forty years in the distillery's warehouses. On the initiative of Oscar Farinetti, owner of Eataly and shareholder in the Montanaro distillery, it is now possible to taste a balanced, flavorful, powerful, and expressive wine spirit at the peak of its qualities.
