Napa Valley "Opus One" 2021 - Opus One

Dark ruby red in the glass, the nose initially expresses compact hints of plum, cassis and cherry, which second after second gives way to notes of spices, licorice, vanilla, cocoa, chocolate, tobacco, and leather. A slight herbaceous nuance opens to a soft, enveloping, sinuous and very long taste. A particularly soft tannin texture, supported by a certain acidity, leads it to a unique persistent finish.

“Opus One” results from a thorough selection of the best bunches of Cabernet Sauvignon, joined by small percentages of other varieties of Bordeaux origin. It ages in new oak barrels for about 17 months, and what you get in the glass is a red wine of incredible depth and elegance. Long and enveloping, it probably represents the best of what Californian wine has been able to express for decades. Already today it’s tasty and satisfying, but its longevity is unbelievable and makes it exceptional for many years to come.
