Brand

In the southwestern area of Montalcino lies the Case Basse estate, covering a total area of 23 hectares and owned by Gianfranco Soldera and his wife Graziella since the early 1970s. Motivated from the outset by the desire to produce a Brunello di Montalcino of the highest quality, Gianfranco and Graziella set up a project based on deep convictions, in which nature and the ecosystem are the two indisputable cornerstones. Starting from this, culture and ancient traditions are combined with innovation and research, creating an inseparable combination that can be found both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Among the rows, the vines are not weeded or treated with pesticides, and are fertilized exclusively with organic substances. The vineyards are small in size to allow for manual labor and a quick harvest.

Pruning is twofold: short pruning in winter and green pruning. Thinning the grapes and limited leaf removal in autumn allow the bunches to receive more light and the fruit to ripen optimally. The absolute star of the vineyards is Sangiovese, the variety that has contributed more than any other to the worldwide fame of the Montalcino area. In the cellar, vinification takes place in Slavonian oak vats, without the addition of selected yeasts. Finally, aging, which can last up to five years, takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels. This is how Soldera wines are born, red wines of the highest quality, characterized by great elegance, capable of increasing their prestige and offering ever greater charm over the years.

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG “Case Basse” is undoubtedly one of Italy's most successful wines, known throughout the world and recognizable thanks to its unmistakable label depicting a dolphin, a symbol sacred to the god Dionysus, designed by the painter Pietro Leddi.

Soldera wines have great aging potential and are perfect for celebrating the most important occasions, after being jealously guarded in the cellar for at least a decade.
